Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Class 10, Class 12, or be graduates from a recognized board or university.

  • The gap between passing Class 10 and Class 12 should not exceed two years.

Age Requirement

  • Applicants should be between 17.5 years and 25 years at the time the course begins.

Academic Marks Criteria

  • A minimum of 50% marks in Mathematics and Science in Class 10 is mandatory.

  • Candidates who have completed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) must have at least 50% aggregate marks in these subjects.

  • Marks obtained through improvement or supplementary examinations will not be accepted.

  • Applicants must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in English either in Class 10 or Class 12.

  • English marks obtained through improvement exams will not be considered.

Board Restrictions

  • Candidates who have completed their Class 10 or Class 12 education through Open Boards, NIOS, or distance learning modes are not eligible to apply.


Preference Criteria

  • Higher preference will be given to Class 12 pass candidates and graduates compared to those who have passed only Class 10.


English Communication Skills

  • Applicants must possess basic spoken and written English proficiency.

  • English competency will be assessed through recognized tests such as the Marlin English Test or other examinations approved by the Directorate General (DG) of Shipping.


Medical & Physical Standards

Physical Measurements

  • Minimum height requirement: 157 cm

  • Body Mass Index (BMI) should not exceed 25

Medical Fitness

  • Normal speech and hearing ability is required.

  • Eyesight must be 6/6 without corrective aids.

  • Candidates must be free from colour vision deficiency.

Selection Process

Once the application is submitted, candidates will be screened based on the prescribed eligibility criteria. Eligible applicants will be required to appear for an online assessment to evaluate their basic aptitude and readiness for the course. Candidates who clear the online test will then be called for an interview. The final selection will be based on overall performance in both stages of the selection process.
