Eligibility Criteria for B.Sc. (Nautical Science)

Educational Requirements

  • Applicants must have successfully completed 10+2 (Senior Secondary) or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as compulsory subjects.

  • A minimum of 60% aggregate marks in PCM is required.

  • Candidates must have secured at least 50% marks in English, either at the Class 10 or Class 12 level.


Age Criteria

  • Minimum age: 17 years

  • The upper age limit as on the date of commencement of the academic session (01 August 2024) is as follows:

For Male Candidates

  • General Category: 25 years

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 28 years

  • SC / ST: 30 years

For Female Candidates

  • General Category: 27 years

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 30 years

  • SC / ST: 32 years


Marks Relaxation Policy

  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories are eligible for a 5% relaxation in PCM aggregate marks. This relaxation does not apply to English marks.

  • A 5% relaxation in English marks is applicable only to candidates who:

    • Are natives of Lakshadweep or Andaman & Nicobar Islands

    • Belong to recognized Scheduled Tribes of these islands

    • Have parents who were both born in the respective islands and belong to the same Scheduled Tribe


Medical & Eyesight Standards

  • Candidates must not have any existing eye disease or condition that may worsen or recur.

  • Normal binocular vision is mandatory, including proper fusion ability and full visual field in both eyes.

  • Eye movements must be normal in all directions, and pupils should respond appropriately to light and accommodation.

  • Normal colour vision is compulsory and will be assessed using the Ishihara Colour Vision Test.

  • Distance vision requirements:

    • Better eye: 6/6 (unaided)

    • Other eye: 6/9 (unaided)


Marital Status

  • Only unmarried candidates are eligible to apply.

How to Apply

Candidates seeking admission to TS Chanakya must first register and apply through the IMU CET official website.

Step 1: Appear for IMU-CET
Applicants need to secure a good rank in the IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) to move forward in the admission process.

Step 2: Online Counselling

Phase 1 – Choice Submission
All candidates who receive their IMU CET Rank Certificate will get access to an online portal. Through this portal, they can select their preferred programme(s) and campus(es) for admission.
A counselling fee of Rs. 10,000 must be paid at this stage. If a seat is not allotted, Rs. 9,000 will be refunded. Please note that once a seat is offered and accepted, this fee is non-refundable.

Phase 2 – Seat Allotment
Seats are assigned based on the candidate’s CET rank, social category, and availability of seats from the options submitted.
Once a seat is allocated, candidates must pay a programme fee of Rs. 15,000 to confirm their admission. This payment is non-refundable.
