Important Admission Requirements

  • A valid passport is mandatory at the time of admission.

  • IMU CET 2024–25 qualification is compulsory for admission into First Year B.Tech Marine Engineering and B.Sc Nautical Science.

  • To pursue a sea-going career approved by DGS, candidates must complete:

    • Minimum 6 months onboard training after B.Tech Marine Engineering

    • Minimum 12 months onboard training after B.Sc Nautical Science


Academic Eligibility

Applicants must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with:

  • Minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM)

  • Minimum 50% marks in English, either in Class X or Class XII


Age Criteria

  • Maximum age: Below 25 years as on 1st August of the admission year

  • Age will be calculated as per the School Leaving Certificate

  • Relaxations:

    • SC/ST: up to 5 years

    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): up to 3 years

    • Women candidates: additional relaxation of 2 years


Gender & Marital Status

  • Admission is open to both male and female candidates without bias

  • Only unmarried candidates are eligible


Medical & Physical Fitness

  • Candidates must meet the medical standards prescribed by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS)

  • Applicants are strongly advised to undergo a pre-admission medical check-up by authorized medical practitioners

  • Sound physical build with no major deformities

  • Minimum height: 157 cm, proportionate weight and chest with minimum 5 cm expansion

Bones & Joints

  • No skeletal deformities, spinal curvature, or joint abnormalities

  • Conditions like flat feet, knock knees, healed fractures with implants are not acceptable

Hearing, Speech & ENT

  • Normal hearing without aids

  • Ability to hear whisper from 5 meters

  • No chronic ear, nose, throat, dental, or speech disorders

Heart & Lungs

  • No cardiovascular or respiratory disease

  • Blood pressure within normal range

  • Normal ECG and chest X-ray

Digestive & Urinary Systems

  • Healthy liver, spleen, kidneys

  • No hernia, urinary abnormalities, or genital disorders

Skin & Nervous System

  • No chronic skin disease or disabling scars

  • No history of neurological or mental illness

Eyesight

  • Normal binocular vision required

  • Corrective lenses allowed within DGS limits

  • Color blindness is strictly not permitted

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) or an equivalent examination with:

  • A minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM)

  • At least 50% marks in English at either Class X or Class XII level

  3. Submit Online Application

    Complete the application form and pay the application fee of ₹1,000 online.
    Upon successful payment, an electronic receipt will be generated.


Shortlisting & Admission Confirmation

  • Candidates are shortlisted based on PCM academic performance and medical fitness as per DGS standards.

  • Shortlisted applicants are invited to the campus for admission confirmation, generally during June–July.

  • Where required, online document verification and confirmation may be conducted through email.


Personal Interview

Applicants undergo an interview conducted by academic and maritime professionals.

Medical Examination
