NUSI MARITIME ACADEMY

NUSI MARITIME ACADEMY

About Us

The NUSI Maritime Academy (NMA) was established in 1993 by the NUSI–ITF Welfare Trust for Indian Seafarers with the vision of rebuilding and strengthening India’s seafaring workforce. Conceived at a time when structured training for ratings had ceased in the country, the academy was founded to create skilled, disciplined, and future-ready seafarers for the Merchant Navy. Guided by the vision of Late Dr. Leo Barnes, former General Secretary of NUSI, NMA is a unique institution promoted by a trade union dedicated to maritime education. Located in Goa amid a serene natural setting, the academy provides quality technical training, fosters continuous learning, and contributes significantly to the development of Indian seafarers for global shipping.
