Eligibility Criteria

Age

Applicants must not be more than 28 years old as on the date of commencement of the course.


Academic Qualification

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.

  • The degree must be recognized by an institute approved by AICTE / UGC.

  • Minimum 55% marks in the final year of the engineering program.

  • The degree must be completed within 4 years from the date of admission.

  • Maximum 6 ATKTs / arrears / backlogs / repeat subjects permitted during the entire course.

  • Candidates awaiting final semester results may also apply, subject to eligibility fulfillment before joining.


Medical Fitness

Candidates must be medically fit as per the standards prescribed by the Directorate General of Shipping and relevant maritime authorities.


Language Requirement

English must have been studied as a subject in Class X or XII with a minimum of 50% marks.


Eyesight Standards

  • No color blindness.

  • Corrective lenses are permitted.

  • Maximum permissible distant unaided vision at entry:

    • 6/12 in each eye, or

    • 6/9 in the better eye and 6/18 in the other eye,
      as per applicable maritime medical regulations.


Passport Requirement

Candidates must possess a valid passport before joining the course.

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Visit the official website: www.samundra.com

  • Complete the online application form with accurate personal and academic details.

  • Select your preferred test date and examination center (where applicable).

  • Pay the Entrance Test Registration Fee of ₹1,100 through the online payment gateway (Net Banking / Digital Payment options).

Registration & Refund Policy

  • The registration fee is generally non-refundable if the candidate does not appear for the test.

  • In case of multiple payments, the excess amount (after deducting ₹1,100) will be refunded as per institute guidelines.

  • For refund requests, candidates must contact the nearest SIMS field office and submit the prescribed refund request form via email for verification and processing.


Step 2: Submission of Academic Documents

Candidates must email scanned copies of their original academic documents to the official admission email ID for verification.

After successful verification, candidates will receive confirmation along with the scheduled date and time for the online examination. If no response is received within 24 hours, candidates should contact the designated helpdesk.


Step 3: Online Entrance Examination

Candidates can appear for the online test from home. Required instructions and system setup details (secure browser and video platform) will be shared via email.

The examination consists of:

  • Demo Practice Test – 10 minutes

  • Multiple Choice Questions – 60 minutes

  • English Writing Test – 20 minutes (applicable for ETO candidates)


Step 4: Interview & Psychometric Assessment

Candidates who qualify in the online test will undergo a virtual personal interview and a psychometric (16 PF) assessment conducted by SIMS faculty.

The evaluation focuses on academic performance, aptitude, attitude, communication skills, and overall suitability for a maritime career.


Step 5: Medical Examination

Selected candidates must undergo a medical examination conducted by doctors approved by the Directorate General of Shipping and the respective company.
The medical report must be submitted to the concerned zonal office or SIMS Lonavala campus.


Step 6: Joining Fee Payment

After clearing all stages, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable joining fee of ₹50,000 via Demand Draft or bank transfer (RTGS/NEFT) in favor of Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies, payable at Mumbai.

The joining fee will be refunded only if the candidate fails to meet the institute’s eligibility criteria after verification.


Final Document Verification

Before reporting to campus, candidates must submit their original academic mark sheets and documents for final verification.
