About Tolani Maritime Institute
India has a strong legacy of producing skilled officers for the global merchant marine, supported by government-established maritime institutes after independence. However, due to limited resources and slow adaptation to growing demand, this leadership weakened over time. In the mid-1990s, policy changes allowed private participation in maritime education.
Recognizing the need for well-trained marine officers, the Tolani Group decided in 1997 to establish a modern maritime institute. The first students joined in August 1998, and the institute later moved to its permanent 100-acre campus in 2000.
Tolani Maritime Institute (TMI)
Tolani Maritime Institute strives to bring meaningful and positive transformation to the maritime sector for the larger good of society. The Institute is dedicated to nurturing competent maritime professionals by equipping them with sound knowledge, practical skills, and a professional mindset. TMI aims to instill passion, discipline, and lifelong learning while continuously broadening its academic scope through the introduction of new and relevant programs in allied fields.

honesty, ethical conduct, and moral courage
