Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification
Applicants must meet any one of the following criteria:

  • Candidates who have passed Class 10 (SSC) with Science and Mathematics must have secured at least 40% aggregate marks.

  • A minimum of 40% marks in English in the Class 10 examination is mandatory.

OR

  • Candidates who have completed a 2-year ITI course from a Government-approved institute must have obtained minimum 50% aggregate marks in the final year.

  • Such candidates must also have scored at least 40% marks in English in Class 10.

Class 10 qualification must be from a recognized board. Education obtained through private, part-time, correspondence, distance learning, or any combination of these modes is not acceptable.
Candidates whose SSC/HSC results are declared must accurately enter their marks in the application form.
Female candidates are also eligible to apply.


Age Requirements

  • Minimum age: 17½ years

  • Maximum age: 25 years on the date training begins

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST candidates: 5 years

  • Female candidates: 2 years

  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years

  • Degree holders: 2 years


Medical & Eye Standards

  • Distance vision must be 6/6 in the better eye and 6/9 in the other eye

  • Normal colour vision is required and will be checked using the Ishihara test

  • A Medical Fitness Certificate issued by a DG Shipping–approved doctor is mandatory (original + one photocopy)


Documents & Selection

  • Original Indian Passport is compulsory at the time of document submission and fee payment

  • Candidates must submit 18 passport-size photographs and 4 stamp-size photographs (white shirt, light background)

  • Final admission will be strictly based on the merit list of the institute’s entrance examination

Rs. 2,65,000/-

Candidates can apply for admission after the course advertisement is released by the Training Ship through newspapers or magazines. Applications are accepted directly, and company sponsorship is not required.

Applicants must complete the prescribed application form and submit it along with self-attested copies of the Class 10 marksheet and School Leaving Certificate. Candidates who have appeared for the Class 10 examination are also eligible to apply.

All received applications will be carefully reviewed by the Training Ship authorities. Eligible candidates will be informed about the schedule for the entrance examination, which will be followed by a personal interview.

Applicants who qualify in both stages will receive further instructions regarding admission and joining procedures. Parents or guardians of rating candidates coming from outside Mumbai must arrange a local guardian for emergency communication purposes.
